The water level of Angat Dam in Bulacan has increased by almost two meters amid rains brought about by the shear line—a region where warm and cold winds converge.
Based on the monitoring of the Hydrometeorology Division of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration on Wednesday, April 6, Angat Dam’s water level has increased to 192.38 meters, from 190.60 on Tuesday, April 5.It was just 0.87 meters above the rule curve elevation on Tuesday.
PAGASA defines rule curve elevation as the minimum reservoir elevation needed to be maintained by dam operators to ensure availability of water for irrigation, power generation, and domestic supply. The dam’s water level has been gradually decreasing due to lack of significant rains over the watershed area in the past few months.
PAGASA had stressed the need to conserve water to avert possible water shortage during the dry months.
