Two storm systems are descending from the Gulf of Alaska, according to the National Weather Service.
The stage for a relatively gloomy and wet weekend began to be set Wednesday, with showers popping up sporadically over the region during the day — and more to come, by early Thursday and again over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
By Wednesday afternoon, the first of it had started in areas of the North Bay. The Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport near Santa Rosa had reported light rain and measured .15 inches of precipitation. Kennedy said it was expected to increase with intensity but that the heaviest showers were expected later Wednesday, in contrast to some earlier forecasts that said the rain may arrive by early afternoon.
Winds also were expected to gust between 25-30 mph in the elevated areas of the region on Wednesday. Those could build to gusts of up to 40 mph by the weekend.“We’re not quite to that point,” Kennedy said. “We will keep an eye on that second system. The second one is definitely stronger.” Ex-Pittsburg cop admits to college degree scam, selling steroids to other officers, names names in plea agreement
