The Fourth of July starts with a mix of sun and clouds in Southcentral. Rain will arrive by early evening over the northern Susitna Valley, spreading south.

Published: Jul. 3, 2024 at 5:45 PM AKDTANCHORAGE, Alaska - Fire danger is still high in Anchorage on the eve of the Fourth of July, so several restrictions are in place. Everyone should be familiar with the allowed methods of enjoying the outdoors or cooking outdoors.

The first round of rain to impact the state is moving through the Interior. A wind advisory is in place for Northeast Alaska, with gusts still expected to hit 45 mph. The advisory is in place through 10 p.m. Another surge of moisture will wash across the state from southwest to northeast Thursday evening to Friday. This is a more widespread and heavier precipitation event for the state. Parts of the northwest Brooks Range could see 2-4 inches of rain through early Saturday. Needless to say, water levels on local rivers and streams will rise accordingly.Southcentral starts off with sunshine and clouds in the mix, with rain spreading south and east by late afternoon and evening.Copyright 2024 KTUU.
