MANILA - Railway operators are ready to resume service at reduced capacity once the enhanced community quarantine over Luzon is lifted, the head of the Philippine National Railways said Thursday.
“Ang initial assessment po natin, mapapatakbo po natin ang railway systems natin at one-fourth the capacity,” PNR General Manager Junn Magno said during the online press conference of Department of Transportation. “Sa darating po na linggo handa na po kami na mag-operate to ferry frontliners in Metro Manila,” Magno said.
Construction of 13 other major rail projects identified in the Build Build Build program continues but with skeletal staffing, Magno said. This is to ensure that when the lockdown is lifted, construction can be ramped up to meet the deadlines of these projects, he said.
