The NFL Network reported on Saturday that Crosby will meet with a foot and ankle specialist on Monday, and that there were questions about whether he would play again this season. Meanwhile, ESPN reported that Crosby would likely have season-ending arthroscopic ankle surgery.
He finished fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting last season. This is the second start Crosby will miss this season because of injury. He had started every game each of the previous four seasons. Quarterback Aidan O'Connell, who has a bruised left knee, is questionable. He has not practiced the past three days, but coach Antonio Pierce has expressed hope that O'Connell would play.
