Motorists were trying to leave the Trafford Retail Park in Manchester on Sunday when they found themselves caught up in chaotic scenes.

Shoppers were forced to abandon their cars after allegedly being trapped in a horror traffic jam at a retail park for more than two hours.

The Manchester Evening News reports that some shoppers reportedly got out of their cars and went to get food only to return and find the jam had not moved. She said that once out of the park, nearby Barton Road was also congested in both directions up to the M60 slip road, where traffic then eased. "It took us two hours to get out. It was ridiculous and something needs to be done about it. “Nobody moved at all because other cars were blocking the roads and the roundabout to try and get in.
