12 Learners at Pretoria Girls High have been suspended following allegations that they were maintaining a white-only WhatsApp group where disparaging and racist comments were being made.
Micro-aggressions are negative passing comments made that relate to the gender, sexual orientation, race, body shape, or religion of others. “A school environment where racism and discrimination are prevalent, whether covert or subtle, compromises the right to education in a safe and equitable environment for all learners,” said Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane about the situation.
