R179 million relocation plan under way to revive Cape Town's troubled central line

The people living on Cape Town's troubled central railway line are expected to be relocated by the end of this year at a cost of R179 million, the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa has said.

However, this will depend on smoothing over tensions between the national and provincial governments over the illegal occupation of Prasa property. The two have maintained that the relocation of the occupiers is the responsibility of the other since 2019.
