Severance makes its much-anticipated return to Apple TV+ on January 17 after nearly three years, and so many questions need answers. Writer and creator Dan Erickson knows there is a thirst that the first season developed in viewers that can only be answered in new episodes, and these answers will be forthcoming. In the general arc, however, things are about to worsen for the characters.
"We very much wanted to put our heroes in a scarier place because season one ends with them poking the bear. They form this little rebellion, and they’re able to achieve a modicum of success with it, but the question with season two was: What happens when the bear pokes back? What’s the fallout of this victory that they had? I think, without giving much away, the fallout is dire."
Season 2 expands in other ways besides characters becoming more aware of their work and home personalities. Lumon has a new peculiar hire, as revealed by first-look images. Meanwhile, company culture grows as the employees do things normal companies do, like excursions. Lumon takes the department on a company retreat, and it is another opportunity to exert control over them."We’re going to these kinds of dangerous new places," Erickson teased.
