The Lake Tahoe region has been put on flood watch this coming weekend as unseasonably warm weather melts the Sierra Nevada's almighty snowpack.. “Low-water crossings may be flooded.” The agency specifically warned that the forks of the Carson River and Susan and Walkers rivers should be monitored closely, adding that anyone planning on participating in recreation activities on the creeks should use caution. “The water will be extremely cold as well, quickly causing shock,” the statement read.

While the rushing water will be cold, the outside air is expected to be unseasonably warm. Temperatures are forecast to hit highs of 68 degrees on Friday and Saturday, around 10 degrees higher than the average for this time of year. The unprecedented snowfall in the mountains this winter combined with spring sunshine revealed submerged vehicles long buried under the deluge earlier this month. Numerous stranded cars appeared under the melting snow, returning automobiles to their owners after the long, deep freeze.
