It added that the public is advised to be always alert and to not be fooled by emails or messages of questionable authenticity. “Do not give your personal information, such as your MyKad number to strangers. Being vigilant is an important part of protecting yourself from being a victim of cheating, identity theft or other such crimes,” said the MCMC in its post.

The Commission added that it urges the public to lodge a report with the authorities such as the police or the National Scam Response Centre for further action.
