THE general counsel of the ministry headed by Pastor Apollo Quiboloy said he was 'surprised and shocked' by the sanctions imposed by the United States government against his client.'This is unheard of. It's hard to believe that the sanctions against Quiboloy are coming from the US where the system of justice includes the presumption of innocence of the accused,' American lawyer Michael Jay Green said in a press briefing on Saturday.

Something I never thought would happen in the US,' he added.Green said it is ironic that the rights of Quiboloy have been violated on the commemoration of International Human Rights Day.'It is a sad day for the US,' he said. 'I feel embarrassed as an American.'The US government imposed on Friday financial sanctions against Quiboloy for his alleged connection to serious human rights abuse, including sex trafficking.
