Director Quentin Tarantino criticized Paul Dano's performance in 'There Will Be Blood,' calling him 'a weak sister' during an interview on 'The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast.' Tarantino argued Dano's casting hindered the film's potential to rank higher on his favorite films list and suggested Austin Butler would have been a better choice.
In a new interview on “The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast," director Quentin Tarantino trashes actor Paul Dano saying, "He is weak sauce, man. He's a weak sister." Quentin Tarantino has a blunt take on a " There Will Be Blood " actor.
{ } During an appearance on “The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast,” the “Pulp Fiction” director took aim at actor Paul Dano, calling him “a weak sister” and arguing that Dano’s performance kept “There Will Be Blood” from ranking higher on his list of favorite films of the 21st century. Tarantino revealed that Paul Thomas Anderson’s 2007 epic lands at number five for him, but only because he thought Dano was miscast opposite Daniel Day-Lewis. “'There Will Be Blood' would stand a better chance to be in number one or number two if it didn't have a big giant flaw in it, and the flaw is Paul Dano,” he said. “Obviously, it's supposed to be a two-hander, and it's also so drastically obvious that it's not a two-hander. He is weak sauce, man. He's a weak sister."Quentin Tarantino suggests another actor who would have done better in "There Will Be Blood" opposite Daniel Day-Lewis.{ }“Austin Butler would have been wonderful in that role. just such a weak, weak, uninteresting guy.” The filmmaker argued that “another terrific actor” could have balanced Day-Lewis’ performance, and even suggested that Austin Butler might have been a better choice. Despite Butler being just a teenager when the film debuted, Tarantino insisted, “Austin Butler would have been wonderful in that role. just such a weak, weak, uninteresting guy.” Podcast host Bret Easton Ellis attempted to defend Dano, but Tarantino doubled down, saying Day-Lewis’ presence only magnified the problem. Tarantino fired back: “So you put him with the weakest male actor in SAG? The limpest d*** in the world?... I'm not saying he's giving a terrible performance. I'm saying he's giving a non-entity performance."Tarantino went on to say he simply isn’t a fan of Dano’s work in general. When asked whether he enjoyed the actor in any film, he replied, “I don't care for him. I don't care for him, I don't care for Owen Wilson, and I don't care for Matthew Lillard." The "Django Unchained" director didn’t stop there. He also blasted “The Hunger Games,” accusing author Suzanne Collins of lifting the concept directly from Koushun Takami’s “Battle Royale.” “I do not understand how the Japanese writer didn’t sue Suzanne Collins for every f****** thing she owns,” he said, calling critics “stupid” for not recognizing the parallels.Tarantino’s unfiltered commentary once again proves that when he has an opinion, he makes it loud and clear in Hollywood.Amid reports of a number of monkeys caged outside, a home on Schimpfs Ln. in Tillman's Corner is marked off with crime scene tape Wednesday as U.S. Fish and WiDowntown Gayfer's building once again eyed for development If your grandparents or great grandparents grew up in or around Mobile, there's a very good chance they spent some time in this huge, cavernous building in theIf a certain commercial during Sunday’s Super Bowl 57 looks and sounds familiar...It's should. And it's no accident.Come Super Bowl Sunday, Gulf Coast tv viewers
