Quentin Tarantino at a red carpet event
Quentin Tarantino is finally returning to directing, but his upcoming project won't be a movie or TV series. According to Variety, the critically acclaimed filmmaker is writing and directing his very own play.
Tarantino has penned a classic British comedy that he hopes to debut in London’s West End. He's also assembling an ensemble cast that can handle physical comedy and over-the-top performances, which are staples when it comes to this specific genre. An insider reportedly claimed that the play could premiere as early as next fall. Additionally, back in August 2025, Tarantino revealed on a podcast that he had already completed the script and would be developing it between one and two years. While rumors have speculated that he could potentially cast several Hollywood stars for his project, others believe that the production is more likely to feature a mix of emerging talent along with more established actors. Although Tarantino hasn't directed in a while, he is still very active in the entertainment industry. The creator has starred in and written several films in recent years. He was cast in Jamie Adams' independent film, Only What We Carry. He is joined by fellow actors Simon Pegg, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Sofia Boutella, Liam Hellmann, and Lizzy McAlpine. Despite Tarantino making major headlines last year during his infamous appearance on The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast, when he tore down several actors whom he deemed unworthy of the industry, Adams had a very different experience. The director said that he was a very talented actor. He also claimed that Tarantino loved other actors, a trait that was not apparent during his rampage against other stars. Adams explained,"He loves actors. He loves cinema history. Being in France making something that felt inspired by Rohmer excited him." Tarantino has also written several films, including the highly anticipated movie, The Adventures of Cliff Booth. The upcoming film is a sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and will be released on Netflix. It will be directed by David Fincher and star Brad Pitt as the titular character. The movie also features a massive ensemble cast, which consists of Scott Caan, Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany, Corey Fogelmanis, and JB Tadena.
