, in an interview published Thursday, the incident occurred shooting a scene when Pitt’s character, Cliff Booth, checks on Dern’s character, George Spahn, who is blind.
“When Brad Pitt wakes me up in ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,’ I’m in the bed and I get up and I’m a little groggy and stuff and I just say, ‘I’m not really sure what’s going on,'” the 89-year-old recalled. For the scene that made the final edit, Dern improvised a different line: “I don’t know who you are, but you touched me today. You came to visit me, now I gotta go back to sleep.
” The “Great Gatsby” actor explained to the outlet that he used improv because Pitt and co-star Leonardo DiCaprio had already told him, “You’re going to be in my movie no matter what. ” Dern explained that he improvised the line because Pitt and co-star Leo DiCaprio promised that he’d be in the movie .
