A senate estimates committee has heard that the cost of the proposed $1.6 billion QSAC renovation could increase.
A tense interchange today saw Queensland Deputy Opposition Leader Jarrod Bleijie press Infrastructure Minister Grace Grace to admit the cost for the redevelopment may be even higher than predicted.
It comes as Premier Steven Miles admitted that the cost of the Gabba redevelopment was always going to rise, something Queenslanders were not told at the time.A senate estimates committee has heard that the cost of the proposed $1.6 billion Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre "I think, it was based upon very little analysis because it was produced in just a few weeks," Miles said.Miles also admitted a business case had not been completed for the proposed $1.
A senate estimates hearing today heard that the costs were not yet finalised, and were undergoing a "project validation report." The government insists this estimate for the QSAC project will be more accurate because it was produced by the Olympics review that was ordered by the premier.
