Queensland Premier Steven Miles is vowing to make school lunches free for every student in prep through to year 6, if Labor is re-elected at the October 26 election.
The proposed free lunch program would kick off from next year, and only be available to students in the state school system. Mr Miles described the measure as an investment in the state's future that would put money back into the pockets of parents. The Queensland Association of School Tuckshops, P&Cs Queensland, Health and Wellbeing Queensland, and non-government food providers would assist with the rollout of the meals.
