NEW YORK -- A Queens deli is serving a special sandwich to raise money for slain NYPD Det. Jonathan Diller's family. Mario's Meats and Deli is donating $5 to Diller's family every time someone orders 'The NYPD,' a chicken cutlet hero with mozzarella, prosciutto di parma, sun dried peppers, arugula and balsamic glaze. Deli owner Joe DiGangi said they've been getting calls around the clock from people wanting to order the sandwich or simply donate.
Police Commissioner Edward Caban promoted him to detective first grade during the service. Diller, 31, was with the NYPD for three years. He left behind his wife, Stephanie, and their 1-year-old son, Ryan.In addition to the deli's fundraiser, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation announced it would pay off the Dillers' home mortgage, the Promise of Hope Foundation said it would cover the funeral, and the public tip-line COP-SHOT pledged $10,000 toward Ryan's future education.
