Prince George and Princess Charlotte to attend Queen's state funeral, as order of service revealed
Queen’s state funeral order of service revealed and details of which royals will attend at Westminster Abbey
At the end of the service, following the “Last Post”, two minutes’ silence, the “Reveille”, and the national anthem, the Queen’s Piper – Warrant Officer Class 1 Paul Burns – will play the traditional lament “Sleep, Dearie, Sleep”.He will say: “Here, where Queen Elizabeth was married and crowned, we gather from across the nation, from the Commonwealth and from the nations of the world, to mourn our loss, to remember her long life of selfless service.
Other hymns include “The Day Thou Gavest, Lord, Is Ended” and “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling”. The latter has often featured at royal weddings including William and Kate’s, and Charles and Camilla’s wedding blessing. While little is known publicly of the Queen’s thoughts on her own funeral, the former Archbishop of York, Lord Sentamu, who was also Supreme Governor of the Church of England, shared that the former monarch did not want a “boring” event.
