Queen's funeral Bank Holiday working rules - and whether you'll be given the day off
The confirmation that the Queen’s funeral will be a national Bank Holiday means that millions of Brits could get the day off work.
Naturally, that means a lot of people could well be off work. However, the government is advising that it’s not as simple as one might think. New guidance from authorities confirms that each employer needs to make their own decision on whether or not they will give staff the day off. A notice from the government explained: “This is a matter for discussion between individuals and their employer. There is no statutory entitlement to time off for bank holidays, but employers may include bank holidays as part of a worker’s leave entitlement.
Already, it has been confirmed that schools will close for the funeral, so many working parents will be hoping they can get time off to look after their little ones, and also remember Her Majesty.
