The clinic in Alderley Edge has been handed an official warning and ordered to make improvements
A hair transplant clinic whose director is the 'Queen of Botox' has been slammed by health watchdog inspectors who rated its service 'inadequate'.
The clinic failed to control the risk of of infection well, didn't always check staff were competent, didn't always store medicine properly and keep proper records, according to the watchdog. The surgery it provided was 'inadequate'. The service 'did not operate robust recruitment processes', managers 'did not always check staff were competent for their roles' and staff didn't always keep proper records, the watchdog found.
Following the watchdog's unannounced inspection on May 10 this year, the clinic was ordered to make a series of improvements 'to comply with its legal obligations', including systems to prevent and control infection. The watchdog found some staff had completed 'little or no' mandatory training although these staff were only involved in pre-assessment and aftercare.
The CQC report said staff recorded vital observations at the start of procedures but there was no process to record them during or afterwards. The watchdog found that although the doctor was licenced by the General Medical Council, he was not on the voluntary register of hair transplant surgeons operated by the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners .
