According to the late monarch's royal aide of 18 years, Samantha Cohen, the queen had a need for speed when it came to getting from point A to point B. In a new interview with, Cohen opened up about her former boss's"shy," but"playful" nature and how her bold personality was reflected in her driving habits. "She was gutsy,” Cohen said of Queen Elizabeth, before surprisingly revealing that the monarch used to "drive her cars fast around Balmoral.
Up until her 93rd birthday, the queen drove herself around on public roads. But she voluntarily gave up that privilege after her husband, Prince Philip, surrendered his driver's license following his 2019 car crash. At the time, it was reported that monarch still drove her Land Rover on private roads near Buckingham Palace and Balmoral.Elsewhere in her interview, Cohen revealed how the queen was "a family woman" with "no ego," despite being the literal Queen of England.
