He claims it contradicts UK government court statements that the Maduro administration is not legitimate, which is why it refuses to hand the gold over.when he declared himself interim president after disputed elections in 2018. “The gold inside the Bank of England’s vaults belongs to the Central Bank of Venezuela,” he said, adding that his administration will continue to protest against abuses, sanctions, and the seizure of Venezuelan assets abroad.
