SEREMBAN: Quarry operations and land clearing activity for a new industrial area in Nilai could have contributed to the unhealthy air quality reported in the city here, says Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
"When I used the North-South Expressway a few days ago, I noticed there was a pall of dust in areas near Nilai where we have a few quarries operating.
As of noon Wednesday, Seremban was the only area in the country to register a slightly unhealthy Air Pollutant Index .An API of below 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy and beyond that is hazardous. "I told them to check out the situation to ensure it does not worsen and cause the air quality to deteriorate further.
