The QuantumLeap reboot is changing showrunners just two months before its scheduled premiere date, with Blindspot creator Martin Gero taking over from Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt.
Less than two months from its expected premiere, NBC's Quantum Leap reboot changes showrunners. The new series acts as a continuation of the original Quantum Leap and picks up 30 years after Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished.
The story follows a new team investigating the accelerator and Beckett's disappearance. Raymond Lee leads the cast as Dr. Ben Seong, starring alongside Ernie Hudson as Magic, Mason Alexander Park as Ian, newcomer Caitlin Bassett as Addison, and Nanrisa Lee as Jenn. Quantum Leap is set to premiere on NBC on September 19, 2022. Blindspot creator and Quantum Leap executive producer Martin Gero is stepping up as showrunner, replacing former co-showrunners Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt. Lilien and Wynbrandt will both be staying with the show as executive producers. While NBC has yet to give a reason for the switch, there are reports that indicate it may involve late scripts. Additionally, Dean Georgaris will be joining the show as an executive producer. Despite these behind-the-scenes changes, it seems that production on the Quantum Leap reboot will continue with few differences. The premiere date remains the same, although there are reports that the pilot will air as episode 3 instead of the series' first episode.
