Veteran tech industry and semiconductor chip analyst, Dave Altavilla, covers Qualcomm's just-announced highly scalable Wi-Fi 7 chipset solution for next-gen home routers, enterprise access points, gateways and Wi-Fi mesh systems.
Today, San Diego wireless networking and 5G connectivity powerhouse, Qualcomm, announced a highly scalable Wi-Fi 7 chipset family of products for next-generation home routers, enterprise access points, gateways and Wi-Fi mesh systems. The new Qualcomm Wi-Fi 7 Networking Pro Series underscores the company’s commitment to providing end-to-end, cutting-edge Wi-Fi solutions for both commercial and consumer client devices, as well as commercial and consumer Wi-Fi network infrastructure.
So, what does Qualcomm’s Wi-Fi 7 platform bring to the table over Wi-Fi-6/6E? In short, much faster connections, Multi-Link Operation and an adaptive channel bandwidth optimization technology that discards slots of spectrum with too much congestion, using a technique known as Adaptive Interface Puncturing . MLO is a big deal for Wi-Fi too; it’s similar to carrier aggregation in 5G mobile networking.
