Qualcomm has revealed a new AI-powered Snapdragon Wear Elite chip for wearable devices.

The company believes that personal"AI devices" will play an integral role in the new"AI era" and has therefore introduced a chip compatible with multiple operating systems.
Wearable devices powered by Snapdragon Wear Elite will not be a part of the smartphone but an independent part of an"AI network" linked to multiple devices. Qualcomm states the setup will help create an “Ecosystem of You” where"multimodal AI agents" on different devices will understand the user and analyze their needs. Alex Katouzian, Qualcomm's executive vice president and group general manager, mobile, compute, & XR , said in a “Snapdragon is transforming personal computing by enabling a new category of Personal AI devices. Spanning a broad range of form factors, these devices are no longer simply extensions of the smartphone, but active participants in a distributed AI network across mobile, compute, XR, wearables, and more. “Snapdragon Wear Elite delivers powerful edge AI with an integrated NPU architecture and advanced sensor processing, enabling true, Personal AI experiences. This is our next step toward our vision of the “Ecosystem of You,” where intelligence seamlessly travels with the user, learning and adapting to their context across their personal devices."Speaking of the chip's performance, the Snapdragon Wear Elite boasts an improvement of up to five times on single core CPU, as well as a GPU that is seven times faster for rendering and multitasking. Advanced power management ensures a 30% higher battery life, while the enhanced fast charging mechanism ensures a 50% charge in around ten minutes. In terms of connectivity, the Snapdragon Wear Elite supports 5G RedCap, Micro‑Power Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth 6.0, UWB, GNSS, and NB‑NTN. The first devices featuring the Snapdragon Wear Elite are expected to hit the market in a few months. Bjørn Kilburn, GM of Wear OS by Google, believes that the new chip will open more opportunities in the world of personal intelligence. He said: “With Wear OS, we are reimagining the smartwatch experience and moving from an operating system to an always with you intelligent system that understands and works for you. The Snapdragon Wear Elite platform opens new possibilities, delivering the performance, battery life and connectivity essential for the next generation of Wear OS.”“The shift toward Personal AI depends on a foundation that can balance on‑device intelligence, sensing, connectivity, and more efficient compute, so these devices can move with you, learn from you, and support more intuitive interactions throughout the day.
