had engaged leadership advisory firm Russell Reynolds to draw up the criteria for Mr Joyce’s successor, with Ms Hudson and Ms Wirth the frontrunners.Ms Hudson joined Qantas in 1994 and, in 2018, became the chief commercial officer before being promoted to CFO. Counting in her favour will be the management of the carrier’s balance sheet during COVID-19, and its recent return to profitability after losses that totalled about $7 billion during the previous two financial years.
“It will come down to specific characteristics of individuals, they will want someone who can navigate those dual objectives,” he said.
