Qantas has modified its non-stop flights between Perth and London to avoid Iranian airspace amid growing fears Iran is planning an attack on Israel. A Qantas spokesperson told SBS News that the flights will temporarily operate via a fuel stop in Singapore. "We're temporarily adjusting the flight paths for our flights between Perth and London due to the situation in parts of the Middle East," the spokesperson said.
Israel has not claimed responsibility for the attack but Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday Israel "must be punished and it shall be". On Friday, Foreign Minister Penny Wong said she had spoken to Iran's foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, urging Iran to "use its influence in the region to promote stability, not contribute to escalation".
