BREAKING: Man known as the “QAnon Shaman” will serve 41 months in prison after storming the Capitol on Jan. 6, judge rules.
During the sentencing hearing, Assistant U.S. Attorney Kimberly Paschall said that in the months leading up to the attack, Chansley “posted vitriolic messages on social media, encouraging his thousands of followers to expose corrupt politicians, to ID the traitors in the government, to halt their agenda, to stop the seal, and end the deep state.”Defense lawyer Albert Watkins said during the hearing that Chansley’s bizarre appearance and behavior on Jan.
Chansley was among the initial throng to enter the building, and once there, he used a bullhorn"to rile up the crowd and demand that lawmakers be brought out,” according to the sentencing memo. In an email last week to NBC News, Watkins, called prosecutors' recommendation"willfully delusional" and"shameful." He described Chansley as a"young, gentle man with zero criminal history and long standing mental health vulnerabilities."
