Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes stars alongside Scarlett Johansson in new David Yurman campaign
for the New York-headquartered brand. Titled Nature’s Artistry, the inspiration point for the jewelry collection, Mendes says, couldn’t be a better fit.
“Nature has always inspired me — it’s where I first retreat when I feel depleted, and where I go when I’m creating music,” he says. In honour of the new campaign, Mendes answered a few questions for Postmedia News to provide a peek into his personal style, his take on the power of jewelry and his favourite pieces:Article contentAuthentic and comfortable, just pieces that make me feel like me. Sometimes more elevated, depending on where I’m going. But I always make sure I feel like myself.
Q: If you had to choose one piece of jewelry to wear every day for, well, forever, which would it be and why?Article contentQ: Do you think the options for men’s jewelry are evolving? If so, what do you think is driving this evolution?Definitely. I think more people are starting to understand that jewelry is a way to express themselves. It seems it’s becoming more common for people to have fun with experimenting with self-expression in what they wear, and I love it.
