Mayor Neal Linnartz has growth, transportation and zoning on his mind as he begins his first term.
Neal Linnartz was sworn in as New Braunfels mayor on May 22. "We're not San Antonio, we're not Austin — they're our big suburbs. So we've got to maintain our uniqueness," Linnartz said.With a population of about 100,000 and growing, it's hard to call New Braunfels a small town. But for Neal Linnartz, who was elected mayor in May, finding ways to preserve its culture and community despite the rapid change is a focus.
We kind of got behind on some of our utility infrastructure, but we're caught up pretty much, and we're anticipating the future growth. Over the next five years, we have a capital improvement plan for utility infrastructure, so we've got to stay ahead of that curve.
The most important is relationships. Through serving on different boards, committees, nonprofits, you meet different people, work with different people, you build relationships with them. And that's how you get things done, through relationships.
