Q: You’ve recently announced plans to be in production by 2026, instead of 2027. How aggressively can you safely pursue that timeline? Udd: It’s important to understand that we actually don’t make decisions on the immediate term. And even the prices, I think, that we’re seeing today, sort of $500-$600 a tonne, are pretty good in the long run. The investment that we’ve made in Jansen though was really under an underlying belief: if you take a look at demand for potash over the last 50 years, fairly consistently, it’s been growing at a range somewhere between one and three per cent.
Q: What’s your sense of how quickly Russia and Belarus could re-enter the potash market, assuming an end to the invasion of Ukraine?Article content Udd: Well, let me talk a little bit about what we’re doing in other areas of the globe. We’ve got something we call the Future Fit Academy, where we bring in people with very little experience, and put them through training programs to accelerate their learning and development so that they can work at our mine sites.Article content
