Putrajaya has finally announced a public trial for its Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) trackless tram. According to its announcement, the new trial will go on

Putrajaya has finally announced a public trial for its Autonomous Rapid Transit trackless tram . According to its announcement, the new trial will go on for a little over three months from 13 May until 31 July 2024.

The tram made its debut for a few days in February during an event held by the city and it was initially announced that the trial would go on until December. However, after the event ended, there had been no news up until today as to when the public could try out the new public transport medium.Despite the tram being reopened to the public, most people shouldn't expect to be able to use it for their daily commute just yet.

That being said, if you want to try it out just to experience what it's like to ride on such a vehicle, you can do so for free during this trial period. Keep in mind that before you get on, you'll have to scan a QR code and download an app. On a somewhat related note, the Johor state government announced yesterday that it will also be building an ART system instead of an LRT, at a cost of RM7 billion. It is expected to be completed by the end of December 2026.
