A creche that acts as a shelter specifically for puppies and kittens has recently opened in Khayelitsha, according to a press statement issued by the Mdzananda Animal Clinic.
The Tots with Tails creche is a ‘transformative initiative’ that aims to not only enhance the lives of puppies and kittens in need but also serve as a temporary shelter before adoption.The Dogs Trust International organisation provided funding for the facility’s construction.
The new creche contains a dedicated area for ‘socialisation and exercise, as well as a cosy meet-and-greet zone’ for individuals that wish to adopt. Young animals are housed away from the older animals and are strategically distanced from the main hospital. This is to significantly reduce their risk of exposure to potential diseases and viruses.‘We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Dogs Trust International for their invaluable contribution to building and equipping this creche.
‘Equipped with amenities for eating, sleeping, socialising, and playing, this space provides a nurturing environment for these vulnerable animals to thrive and ultimately find loving forever homes,’ Arendse added.
