A public viewing area will be available for the demolition of the Beaver Stadium press box on Saturday, with parking options and events planned for attendees.

Work is progressing on the Beaver Stadium press box during the Penn State media day. There will be a public viewing area in the Stadium West parking lot at the corner of University Drive and Curtin Road. Parking in Stadium West, Jordan East and Porter North lots will not be available. Spectators can park for $1 per hour in the Yellow H Shields lot, the Orange A lot at the Katz Building and the Eisenhower parking deck. Payment at those lots will be through ParkMobile or HONK.

The East Parking Deck will also be open, charging $2 for the first hour and $1 per additional hour. Parking lots, and Saturday’s festivities, open at 7:30 a.m. Concessions will be available through credit card purchase only, featuring hot chocolate, breakfast sandwiches and pastries. Among the events included, there will be a DJ, fans can sign a commemorative bleacher from the upper West section and there will be a drawing to win construction hats signed by Penn State coaches. The Beaver Stadium press box was originally part of New Beaver Field before being moved to Beaver Stadium following the 1959 season. It was renovated to its current look in 1980. Saturday’s demolition will be the start of large-scale renovations to the west side of Beaver Stadium. The release said workers will demolish, prep and clear the area over the next six weeks. Construction will then begin prior to the 2025 season. Some items, like signage and bleachers, have been salvaged and will be available for purchase “at a later date.” The Penn State Board of Trustees approved the $700 million renovation to Beaver Stadium in May that will continue in stages through 2027. This season, new escalators and videoboards around the stadium highlighted early renovations
