The vigilance and alertness by Public Order Policing members paid off when they arrested three suspects in the act of attempting to hijack a minibus this morning 20 October 2023 in Zwide.
It is alleged that at approximately 08:15 at the corners of Uitenhage and Spondo Roads, Zwide, the police members were at the intersection and while waiting for their turn to cross the road, they witnessed three suspects, approaching a white Mercedes Benz minibus. The members then realised that the suspects were busy attempting to hijack the driver. The members immediately acted and arrested all three suspects and confiscated a revolver and ammunition.
The suspects aged between 30 and 33 were arrested on charges of attempted hijacking, possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
