Planned protest activity is expected around Northern Ireland over the coming days
Police have issued a statement regarding social media misinformation relating to advice to employers in Belfast city centre ahead of protests.
It comes as rioting has unfolded in Belfast sporadically in recent days following an anti-immigration protest at City Hall last weekend, which resulted in violence unfolding and a number of minority owned businesses being targeted and attacked.Read more: Translink issue update on services ahead of weekend protests
In a statement, a spokesperson for the PSNI added: "Official Police Service social media channels will be kept up to date with the latest advice on planned protests. We are aware of planned protest activity throughout Northern Ireland tomorrow. "If you participate in disorder, you risk getting arrested. The penalties for being involved in serious disorder can be very high, with rioting carrying a maximum sentence of ten years in prison."
