A member of the public allegedly strangled to 'point he was nearly out'
A police officer was left “vomiting blood” after being strangled by a man escorted from a Domino’s Pizza store, a court heard on Wednesday.
The officer said that staff told the officers at the scene that the alleged injured party was in a room at the rear of the premises. One officer, the court heard, then “escorted” the defendant outside to a police vehicle while the other went to speak to the injured party. He went on to say that while there were a number of previous offences on Burns’ record the last one involving violence was in 2017. He said that objections to bail were not on the basis of flight risk or interference with witnesses. Burns, he suggested, could be granted bail with strict conditions including a “full alcohol and drugs ban”.
