PETALING JAYA: The Puspakom branch at Section 51 here will cease operations on Aug 31.
IPOH: Parti Sosialis Malaysia has filed a civil suit against the Perak Land and Mines Department , its director, and an officer over an injury to one of its members during an eviction process at a farm in Kanthan , Chemor, last year.
PSM deputy chairman S. Arutchelvan said the suit was filed at the Sessions Court here on July 16 against the department, its director Datuk Mohamad Fariz Mohamad Hanip and Mohd Sukari Saidin, who is believed to be the officer who injured Chong Yee Shan during the incident in October last year. "The suit has been served to the three parties on Aug 2, with the mention to be held on Aug 26," he said in a press conference at the PSM headquarters here on Tuesday .
"Chong, who is a party central committee member, has suffered severe injuries on her right eye resulting in permanent eyesight damage," he said, adding that Chong would have double vision whenever she looked down and right."During the incident, she bled from her nose for about 30 minutes and also suffered multiple cuts on her arms, lips, chin and bruises all over her legs," he added.
In December last year, Chong was charged with obstructing public servants from performing their duties."Having consulted with several parties, I decided not to go for an operation to avoid the risk of becoming blind," she said.
