Over a week since it was revealed that arbitrator Nazeer Cassim ruled in favour of Kaizer Chiefs in the matches they were unable to honour, PSL Prosecutor Zola Majavu has confirmed that the matter has been"removed from the roll" until the review is finalised by the leadership.
The Siya crew reported last week that the PSL Executive Committee met last week to review the decision made by the arbitrator and now Majavu has left it to the leadership of the league to make a decision on what happens going forward with regards to the case. Chiefs, who were unable to honour DSTV Premiership matches against Cape Town City and Golden Arrows in December due to an unbelievable Covid-19 outbreak at Naturena, announced last week that they were shocked to hear that the PSL were reviewing. It's still unclear at this stage what the PSL is doing to do.
"The matter was previously postponed to the 30th of March, on the understanding and pending the finalisation of the arbitration. The arbitrator has since decided this matter on the 18th of March, 2020. Subsequently, the league indicated that it would exercise its right to take the arbitrator's award on review.
"When the matter resumed before the PSL DC today, I removed the matter from the roll and reserved the league prosecutor's rights to reconsider the matter when the review application is finalised and depending on the outcome thereof. As matters stands, the matter before the PSL now stands adjourned."
