Paramedics, nurse practitioners and pharmacists in Sask. could see the scope of their work expanded, as the government moves to consult.
In a Thursday announcement, the government said it would begin consultations with regulatory bodies, unions, associations and other stakeholders “in the coming days,” which will inform possible amendments to regulations, bylaws and legislation with a goal of expanding the scope of duty for those health professionals.We deliver the local news you need in these turbulent times on weekdays at 3 p.m.
The designation allows RNs to assess, diagnose and manage common medical conditions, as well as treat a narrower band of common conditions, like strep throat. They can also perform emergency deliveries, suture patients and perform pap smears and prenatal assessments.
