A protest is growing in the Port of Tacoma. Organizers claim weapons headed to Israel are being shipped directly from the port. KING 5 can not confirm those claims.
TACOMA, Wash. — Protesters are blocking access to a ship they say is bound for Israel that is docked at the Port of Tacoma Monday morning. Tacoma police confirmed that traffic on 11 Street was blocked from Port of Tacoma Road to Milwaukee Way due to the protest. The department has officers on scene to"help direct traffic and ensure the continued safety of all community members."
The protesters are calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, where Israel has been carrying out an offensive intended to stamp out the militant group Hamas. Gaza came under the third total communications outage since the start of the war, while Israel's military announced late Sunday that it had encircled Gaza City and divided the besieged coastal strip into two.
