A bill proposed on Monday would lift restrictions that ban New Jersey residents from pumping their own gas.
which actually bans Jersey gas station customers from having control over the pumps. This legislation was put into place because of the potential liabilities brought about by customers handling super flammable gasoline, with those who choose to self-serve in turn getting served fines of up to $250.
“As a station owner, I know that the self-serve option will bring my businesses significant cost savings that I can pass along to my customers,” tells Kashmir Gill—a member of a group who owns stations in Central Jersey—to the news outlet.
