She was to be turned over to Canadian authorities Wednesday morning, in a deal worked out at a detention hearing held Tuesday in an Oregon court. At that hearing, U.S. federal public defender Megha Desai told court that Walker is a victim of domestic abuse and has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.through a friend in Saskatchewan in which she said she fled the country because she feared for her son’s safety.
She went on to say she was “failed by the Saskatchewan justice system, the family law system and child protection.”—With files from The Canadian Press
