They reached out to the acclaimed actress, and she quickly agreed to record a single line for Project Hail Mary. As Weir told, “I love how it ended up being Meryl Streep pretending to be a computer that is pretending to be Meryl Streep.” Project Hail Mary, based on Weir’s 2021 novel, follows Ryland Grace. It follows Ryland as he awakens on an interstellar spacecraft. He has no memory of his mission or how he arrived there. The film, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, stars Ryan Gosling.
