Progressive field was filled with first responders Wednesday for a day filled with mass casualty scenarios.

CLEVELAND , Ohio - Progressive Field was filled with first responders Wednesday for a day filled with mass casualty scenarios. Cleveland Fire , EMS , and Police were involved. The Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s office and EMA were there as well.

Bryan Kloss with Cuyahoga County EMA told us it took about a year and a half to plan this training. “Our objective is for law enforcement to solve the threat and get medical into the scene as quickly as possible,” said Kloss. The 19 News team watched as crews handled an active shooter situation. There were more than 100 actors at the training pretending to be victims. “They’re so passionate and they are so interested in making us better at our craft, they don’t make it easy on us, screaming, yelling, fighting us off,” said Cleveland Fire Assistant Chief Tom Schloemer. They will then go back to their respective departments and reflect on how they reacted in each scenario. After that, they will look at current protocols to see if anything needs to be changed.
