The University of Cape Town has announced that the institution’s former emeritus Professor Batmanathan Dayanand Reddy will act as the interim vice-chancellor for six months.The decision to get back Reddy out of retirement comes after UCT’s former Chancellor Mamokgethi Phakeng’s special leave that will lead to her exit after a number of complaints were levelled against her and investigations into how the university was being run.
“We want to thank professor Reddy for availing himself of this role, and we warmly support him back to UCT. I am sure we will all offer him our support during his interim tenure,” Ngonyama said.He worked almost his entire academic career at UCTHe served as the South African Research Chair in Computational Mechanics
