CLEVELAND , Ohio - The National Women’s Soccer League appears to be nearing a deal with Denver over Cleveland and Cincinnati as it looks to expandThis would suggest an end to the months-long bid by Cleveland Soccer Group for a franchise expansion here.
Though, this was the second attempt to bring an NWSL franchise to Cleveland, so the group could always try again.“We won’t be the 16th team in the NWSL. But it’s not over, Cleveland. We are exploring all paths to make women’s pro soccer in Northeast Ohio a reality, a success, our future. Nearly 16,000 season ticket pledges can’t be wrong.
