Current corporate net-zero guidance often overlooks emissions resulting from professional services. Therefore, the concept of serviced emissions presents a unique opportunity for these firms to leverage their influence and guide clients towards sustainable practices, creating a 'springboard' for leadership. The UN working group illustrates the potential impact by detailing the experience of a leading global advertising agency that discovered the emissions from their top 20 clients were over 4000 times higher than their operational emissions. To seize this opportunity and drive real change, professional services firms can take four key steps: partnering with clients on their sustainability journeys, using their voice to influence policymakers and create a conducive environment for sustainable business practices, measuring and disclosing serviced emissions, and developing innovative solutions to minimize their clients' emissions. By embracing this new paradigm, professional services firms can not only future-proof their businesses but also become instrumental in driving the global transition to a sustainable future
